Student privacy and deployment requirements

StudySidekick uses generative AI. Requirements for student access vary between schools, education systems and jurisdictions. Before deployment, check whether school, education-authority and/or parent/carer consent or approval is required, and whether the selected AI platform is appropriate for your learners.

Protect student information. Do not enter student names, dates of birth, addresses, health information, wellbeing records, behavioural records, disability information, student IDs or other identifying or sensitive student information unless your institution has specifically approved that data handling. Where identification is unnecessary, use a non-identifying reference such as Learner 01.

StudySidekick provides teacher-governed pedagogical controls; it does not replace school responsibilities for safeguarding, privacy, consent, supervision or compliance with applicable requirements.

Learning topics and task overrides

Students do not automatically move through these topics. Each topic can use the course support defaults or set its own defaults. You can also add specific tasks or assessment components that need a different support boundary.

Topic release is a behavioural control, not file security. If all semester files are uploaded at the start, students may be able to see those files in Project Sources. StudySidekick is instructed not to use or divulge a dormant topic until its activation prompt is given. Do not upload material early if it must remain genuinely confidential.

These might include learning materials, websites, task sheets, rubrics, teacher questioning guides, curriculum documents or safety procedures.

The Builder records which resources StudySidekick should use and which learning topic each resource belongs to. Files are not uploaded to ChatGPT by this website. We will tell you what still needs to be added when your StudySidekick is created.
